Oh, Scott Albrecht stopped by (an international karate champion). We asked if he would say, well, whatever he wanted to the young'uns.

Hi. My name is Scott Albrecht, I am 18 years old and I have been a patient of Dr. Nuzzo's since the age of six. I am writing this message to all those out there who have a disability or are family of a person with one or one who is just browsing.

I was asked by Dr. Nuzzo to give a message about myself and what I have accomplished in my life despite the Cerebral Palsy that I have. If you look on the web page you will see the most important
parts of my life in the pictures of me in Karate. I began Karate at the age of 11 and have been practicing ever since. I am now a 2nd degree black belt and I also instruct. I want to make one simple point in this message to those with any "Problem," no matter what it is, you CAN overcome it and make yourself and whatever you choose to do a success.

I won't say that it will be an easy road but as long as you give it your best and don't ever give up you will get what you want. Don't ever let yourself get down keep working for what you want and you WILL get it. One more thing, You can't go at it alone; use the support of your friends and family don't push them away and most of all don't feel sorry for yourself.

Whether you know it or not you all have been given a special gift. You have a gift that no one else has - you have your own life and no matter what physical things are wrong you can make it work for YOU! Follow your heart and your dreams and the rest will take care of itself.

I just have a small message for the parents, friends and family of
anyone with a disability. BE SUPPORTIVE, don't shelter and don't smother - let the person have room to grow and decide what he or she wants. It is true that disabilities are tough to deal with, especially when we are young, but you can't protect them from everything. If there is one thing that I have learned in 18 years it is that you can't sweat the small stuff. You have to live for what you want and the heck with what others say or do. Let them do more and more and everything will turn out fine in the end.

I hope everyone who reads this accomplishes whatever is in your hearts and dreams

            GOOD LUCK,

            Scott
